Choices participated in European Nutrition & Lifestyle Conference

On 23 and 24 February 2010, the annual European Nutrition & Lifestyle Conference took place in Brussels. The Choices Programme was presented with a stand by the Choices International Foundation secretariat, and Jaap Seidell, Chairman of the Scientific Committee, participated in a session on Nutrient Profiling. During this session, the question of whether once an EU-wide consensus on profiles has been achieved this could be used in other legislative areas – for instance FOP labelling – was discussed.

Choices International Foundation presents first international nutrition benchmark

BANGKOK, 7 October 2009 – During the week of the International Congress of Nutrition (ICN), the Choices International Foundation has announced its new product criteria version 2.3, the first ever set of international criteria for front-of-pack nutrition labelling. The Choices Programme, which features a single, positive front-of-pack stamp on food and beverage packages, was designed to help consumers select healthy options within food categories and to stimulate the food industry innovation.

Choices products \“reduce fat and sugar\” intake

Eating a typical diet but with ordinary products substituted by Choices products can reduce saturated fat by 40 per cent and sugars by 35 per cent, according to a study by the chair of the Choices International Scientific Committee.
Jaap Seidell, professor at Free University Amsterdam, looked a typical diet and then what happens if you eat this typical diet but use products conforming to the Choices nutrient profiling.
